Prime identifier
Last updated: July 20, 2023
A unique number consisting of alphanumeric characters
allocated to an object, to uniquely and unambiguously identify the object as a
singular entity. A prime identifier cannot be used more than once for an object
of the same type.
AssetWise is insensitive to the format of prime identifiers, and does not rely on the intelligence embedded in the prime identifiers for its operational logic. A typical example of a prime identifier is the item number allocated to an item, or the identification number of a person.
